Perfect. I researched a lot for the right tent for us to pack up and take with us on our trip to Turks and Caicos. I picked the right tent. It was sturdy, affordable, easy to set up. IT also is small and light enough that I just carried it on the plane as an extra carryon without any hassle. We took it to the beach every single day. It takes 5 min to set up and 5 in to take down. By the end my 10 year old was doing it herself. I love the sand bag pockets. One day there were maybe 30 -35 mile an hour winds so we filled up all the sands bags...along with the bags provided for the tent poles etc. and the tent stayed up! We would also just put our beach bags etc in the tent to help it stay put on the seriously windy days. Definitely better than an umbrella. We are petite people but....my two teenage girls and I all laid in it one day for a day spread out. If you have little babies you might want to invest in the kind that just takes the one motion pull to set it up but...if you have an extra set of hands and 5 min of time is was definitely worth saving the money and getting this tent!

I was back and forth between a shady tent or a giant umbrella. I couldn't be happier that I went with this choice. It takes a few minutes to set up, I'm sure It'll faster as time goes by. The quality is definitely Coleman. We took this to the beach on a very sunny, but windy day. The set up was a challenge as the wind kept us on our toes. The anchors were useless with so much wind, but we had coolers and bags that we used to weigh everything down. We spent most of the day, half in and half out playing card games, reading books and enjoying the beach. It was perfect for 2 adults and a 9 year old. But I did spend some time people watching. What I saw made me love our shady tent more! I watched as people clung to their umbrellas as they tipped and flopped. I watched as peoples towels were blown over and hat flying off in a swoop. And I watched as people tried to eat without getting a gust of sand to add to their snacks. Without the sides to protect us from the wind, we would've taken part in that mess. Instead, we just got to kick back and enjoy the day. The size is way smaller and lighter than an umbrella with a good anchor would be AND it actually fits back in the bag (feel like that never happens). The cost of this little guy is totally worth it. We plan to bring it on our next camping trip and our 9 year old wants to sleep in it so we may just set it up in her room one day :) AND it actually fits back in the bag (feel like that never happens).

Found the lime green tent half off, so I decided to give it a try. This beach tent exceeds my expectations! I was nervous about setting it up, but my sister and I had it up in 5 minutes! There are only 3 poles to assemble in order to get the tent to pop up. The window in the back is really nice to get a cross-breeze. Definitely made 100° days at the beach more enjoyable! I love how the window also opens up as a door if you want, and I love how the front of the tent can zip up if you want to use it as a changing room. There's even a line to dry your clothes! The tent is roomy and comfortably fit 2 adults, beach towels, and a cooler. You could definitely get 2 beach chairs and a cooler inside too. The tent easily comes down and packs into the carrying bag. I was pleasantly surprised at how small the bag is, it folds up to maybe 2-3 feet and is easy to carry. I highly recommend this tent over the beach umbrella tent versions! I did not want a huge umbrella pole in the middle of my tent, so I am glad I got this tent! Not to mention, beach umbrellas are heavy and bulky so they are harder to carry and pack in the car. Love this product!!! Can't wait to use it again!

I take my dog to various events. We went to a dock jumping competition during a particularly hot weekend. This shade tent was really easy to set up (I practiced at home first to figure it out). I put her in her crate in the shade with a fan and then had an aluminet shade cloth over the tent. She actually got cold in there and was shivering. I had to take her out into the sun to warm her up. The take down was also super easy. I could do it myself. I absolutely love this!

I spent far more time than on person should trying to find just the right beach tent for our trip. Most look great but when you really look at the measurements or read the reviews, you realize how tiny they are. We got this one at a great price AND it was the biggest one I saw that wasn't super cheaply made. It was really big and worked great. We were able to fit a pack and play and a chair for an adult into it. It does take a little more effort to put together than some of the smaller ones, but it was totally worth it. It also packs up really nicely for carrying. I definitely recommend it.

This is a fantastic shade for the beach. It does take a few minutes to set up, but it's really fast and easy once you get used to it. We live in Florida, so we go to the beach often. We rinse the tent and the hardware (not the sand bags) after each beach trip so the tent will last longer since the salt water is rough on just about everything. When the tent is set up properly it will withstand even moderately strong winds, much better than an umbrella, which we also have. A bit of advice on the set-up: Sometimes when trying to feed the poles through they will get stuck in the material. We fixed this by attaching the caps of ink pens to the end of the pole that will be getting fed. Then just remove the cap so the pole fits properly into the grommet. For the larger pole the end of a Sharpie marker is the perfect size, and for the smaller poles the end of a Pentel RSVP pen works great. Not advertising for these products, they just happened to be what they had and were absolutely perfect. It makes feeding the poles a simpler, smoother process. The tent has a window in the back which can be opened to expose the screen and allow the wonderful ocean breeze to flow through, or a shade that can be closed when the sun begins to set behind the tent. It has ample room for two beach chairs in the front and coolers or other beach items stored in the back. It makes a full day at the beach comfortable and enjoyable. Many naps have been taken in our tent :) Now for the best part: We are in our fifth season with this tent, and other than the ends of the poles being slightly rusted it looks as good as it did when we purchased it, with moderate use and proper care, so it is made to last.

I (like other reviewers here) debated between the Sport-brella XL and the Coleman Beach shade. I did a lot of research on shade structures. I chose the Coleman and am glad I did. The structure arrived earlier than expected. I set the structure up at home before leaving for the beach. Took me about 10 minutes the first time setting it up. I was able to easily roll it back up, poles and all and get it back in the bag. The bag is small but if you roll it just like they direct and if needed fold the tent in quarters to the size of the bag you can get it back in the bag. We took the structure to a windy beach in California. I set the structure up in camp (one could pop it open by your car) because I didn't want it to blow away, this took closer to five minutes to set up. Keep the tent zipped closed, pick it up, sort of 1/2 fold it and take it down to the beach. The tent stakes it comes with are short for the sand, but angle them in and they work great. We also used the Sand bags (comes with 6) they worked great to keep our blankets and the tent down. I was really worried about the window in the back only, (no side windows) but it was no problem, stayed cool even when there was no wind and it was hot on the beach. Opened the back door, kept the screen closed and it worked great. I saw others on the beach with the Sunbrella, they were constantly battling the sun. Moving the umbrella's. If you angle the Coleman correctly you don't have to battle the sun or move it. The front of the structure was just long enough to shade my family or we draped a towel a bit in the front. The structure is made of tent material, but it is strong. The front panel does zip closed all the way, there are other similar models that do not. We put two of the JJ coles essential blankets side by side just on the inside of the structure and it fit three adults with some left over room. The structure would fit a family with two adults and two small kids fine. We had a small cooler and a couple of regular sized back packs in the structure with still plenty of room. There are small mesh pockets on the inside near the front that held sunblock and sunglasses. At night we just zipped the tent up and took it back to camp, left it closed and took it back to the beach in the morning. When we left we packed it back down in camp. We just lifted the structure up and the sand slipped out. Packed it back down in the parking lot and fit it right back into the bag. I'm glad I chose the Coleman over the umbrella's. I can't say enough good things about this structure.

This is a perfect beach tent - a must have if you have little ones that need a break from sun or wind. Spacious enough that two adults and two kids can fit comfortably inside fully in the shade, and circulates air rather well (though could benefit from a side vent unless you're able to face it so the sun doesn't come in through the back vent, negating its purpose). Setup is a breeze too - was worried cause some people said they had trouble, but literally took about 2 minutes to set up. Packs easily back into carrying case as well. We used this on a beach trip to view the eclipse with my parents and without this I can say our beach days would have been miserable. We had an umbrella too, but that just isn't enough, especially when you have a 4mo and a 2yo. My step-father is very fair skinned and he was grateful to be able to enjoy the beach for once without feeling accosted by the sun. One thing I will say is BE AWARE of your beach's regulations on tents. We used this at Myrtle Beach for one day only since they have some stupid aesthetic rule that you cannot have tents above 3 feet tall. I was luckily able to convince the lifeguard that us setting up behind the "umbrella line" would not be a safety issue for his line of sight to the water, and me not having it up would only be a safety issue for my infant. We found a lovely state park (Huntington Beach) for the rest of our trip without such ridiculous rules. Basically never go to Myrtle with kids. AND, if you need a shade tent, buy this one!

I personally roll my eyes when these people with "disposable income" say you NEED this or you can't live without that... Because, c'mon, who has "disposable" money.... So, now, here I am, head ducked in shame, about to scream the praises of an absolutely frivolous product... bear with me though... This product is a MUST HAVE for families or parents with smaller children. I never thought of needing a sunshade until I had my daughter, who's now 16 months old and running away towards the water at the beach constantly. I will say that this is a bit more work to set up, it is NOT an instant up tent or umbrella style shelter. It takes about 5-10 minutes to set up alone, so I recommend leaving your little one in a stroller or, if you're lucky enough, have someone help. My personal recommendation is to set up and insert the 2 smaller poles at your vehicle, then once you're at the beach, insert the longer one. I would also say it's easier to pack up if you completely zip the front instead of leaving it open. The stakes worked wonderfully, even in direct wind. Having the ability to zip up the front and turn it into a changing room is amazing. I was actually able to get it back into the original package with little effort. Diaper changing, clothes changing, they are both SO much easier away from the sand and wind and sun. This shelter has saved us from having to leave for meal or nap time.. nap time is amazingly easy with the shelter. She's out of the sun, there is a lovely breeze, and, if needed, I can close up the entire shelter so she has a bit of privacy. On an adult level, it's awesome having somewhere you can store your belongings. The pockets are great for phones and drinks, as they're up and away from sand, the corners of the shelter are pretty deep, perfect for stashing a purse or bag out of sight. For me, having towels laid out without the wind whipping them and the sand that's stuck on is a HUGE bonus. I can't say enough good things about this shelter, it's honestly so convenient. I can't wait to use it this whole summer! I will be keeping it in my car along with our beach bag so we'll always be ready for an impromptu beach trip! (And, as an added bonus, I bought it when it was a Deal of the Day!) Update: Over a year later, I'm still using this baby! It's great for making a full day out of a beach or park visit. There's enough room for 2 adults and 3-4 kids if you're OK being close. I've also noticed these being used for sporting events, with the short beach chairs inside. My daughter is now 2.5 and we've used it to cover nap time and clothing changes multiple times this season. Has room for a picnic bag, a beach bag, a couple inflatables and us. Awesome for shade and a windbreak while applying sunblock or bug repellant, no sand getting stuck or flying around. I will say that, in direct sunlight, wrangling a toddler to change with the door and window zipped, it gets HOT quick!! Still super happy!! (The large pole did escape through one of the loops and ripped a hole in it, but it's on the fabric loop itself, not the tent)

I did a bunch of research before getting this, so I'll give my honest review. Having used this for several beach trips over a couple years, I seriously don't know how I ever got by without it. A couple notes I have on it: 1) Its easier to setup with two people. Doable with one person. It packs up incredibly small and light, but the trade off is its not as easy as an umbrella for initial setup 2) However it beats out a beach umbrella in that once its setup and you set your stuff in it, there is no more fiddling. Umbrellas constantly need to be readjusted and can blow over. Not so with the Beach Shade. 3) I angle it so the back of the structure is a bit into the wind. This allows the wind to blow through it when you open the back for a nice cross breeze. And its much stronger and more aerodynamic than taking the wind from the side or head on where it would catch in the door of it. I'm surprised the instructions don't talk about how to position this optimally in the wind. 4) Size easily fits two backpack beach chairs with enough room for a cooler bag and other odds and ends. I think its could accommodate three adults but it'd be pushing it. 2 adults + (1 or 2) kids would probably be ok. 5) There is a line to hang your towel from. I've also set my boogie board on the front awning A couple of my favorite user stories: 1) Were at the beach and got caught in a light rain storm. Everyone ran for cover but my wife and I waited it out in the Beach Shade and it was great to watch the rain and have the beach to ourselves! 2) My wife is pregnant and the beach would have not been possible without this as a place to get shade. 3) In general you get so much more time on the beach with this Beach Shade. Its like a home base and I feel like setting it up is a great "claimer" socially and psychologically. Typically people won't set up that close to it because for some reason there is like a social "marking territory" thing about it? Also while we are in the water we'll zip up the front of it and I feel as though people are less likely to open a tent and rummage through it. I know its not physically more secure than anything else, but socially or physiologically I think it works out to be a more secure place to have your belongings
