We bought this coffee make it to replace an old one which we had for many years. I prefer coffee that is percolated versus dripped in this model works fine. I gave it four stars on cleaning only because a coffee maker of this design is, by nature, hard to clean

I bought this to heat/serve water for a hot chocolate bar for Christmas Eve. I love it so much that I have used it everyday since Christmas Eve for hot chocolate and herb tea (while the children are home for Christmas break). I used it for our New Year's Eve party. My guests now want one of their own. Despite some of the reviews, this one works perfectly and does not leak. It is the perfect size for our needs.

great buy. I use this because I think percolator coffee tastes way better than drip style. I got this size because I drink a lot of coffee and got tired of having to make a new pot every day. Works great. my cups don't fit under the spigot but I just slide it over to the edge and fill them up. It does get hot, but what do you expect from brewing coffee.

I replaced a pot exactly the same that I have had for 30 years. Not fancy, but an old standby. I make coffee for a group of 20 or so who visit the pot throughout the morning. When the old pot died I looked carefully at the one-serving fancy new pots like keurig that are all the rage and other fancier, more contemporary choices, but for fixing a quantity and forgetting about it, this was my choice. I did not want to have to refill water. If you take the grounds out as soon as they finish perking the coffee tastes better for longer. But I don't always remember, and it's still fine. The only annoying feature is that a standard not very big Styrofoam cup doesn't fit under the spout without tipping it. I solve that with a wooden 1inch board like a cutting board, cut into a circle, that raises the pot up 3/4 of an inch. Otherwise you have to tip the cup. I especially appreciate the instructions on how much ground coffee to use. Since I make 22 cups every week, the instructions for using a measuring cup instead of a scoop or spoon are very helpful.

I used this for my hot chocolate bar to heat water. Within three minutes the water was hot, so I definitely recommend this product. It's super user-friendly and extremely convenient

I use this in my home on the Sabbath to keep water hot from Friday night until Saturday night. It works well for that purpose, and I was very happy, when my old one died after many years, to find that West Bend still makes this item. I want to warn users, however, that this urn is dangerous around small children, It is quite hot on the outside, and a child could easily operate the spigot and scald himself. I am happy to be able to buy this, because I don't have any young children in my home now, but I do have arthritis, which makes using the pumping type of urn hard for me, and I live on a fixed income, so I didn't want to spend a lot for this item. For me, this West Bend urn is perfect.

I spent years trying to find a coffee maker that produced enough coffee for groups of 5-15 and was strong enough for my taste. This perked coffee tastes great and comes out as strong as my guests and I like it (though of course you don't have to make it that strong). So far the coffee in the urn has never lasted long enough to find out how it tastes after it's been kept heated in the urn for awhile--the fresh perked coffee is a big hit. Perking takes about a minute per cup (at 5 oz.), but once you assemble the water and coffee and plug it in, the rest is automatic. The urn/base is very lightweight, so cleanup is fairly easy. This was definitely the right solution for my needs.

I got one of these coffee makers for some friends to use in their small store. It worked great for them and always produces good-tasting, hot coffee. So I decided to get one for my home, for parties and when relatives are staying with us for a week each year. It works great. The coffee tastes so good that I'm trying to find out if I can make less than 12 cups of coffee in it for when hubby takes his big mug to work each morning. I'd like to be able to make 4 cups worth, if possible, but I don't know if it is safe to only put 20 ounces of water in the coffee maker. If I can make 4 cups worth then I will get rid of my more expensive coffee maker and just use this one daily. It does have a fairly short cord, but that isn't an issue for me. It doesn't have a way to see the level of coffee from the outside. But hubby says it is empty when no more coffee comes out. :)

Purchased this for a function as we wanted to have lots of hot water for tea, (We have not used this for coffee). It heated up very quickly and provided enough hot water to make lots of cups of tea. Only complaint is that it would have been smart to have a on/off switch. Don't plug it in before you add a sufficient amount of water.

Bought this for hosting a baby shower for a hot chocolate bar. AWESOME idea, but not meant for that intension. Please read use instructions. But, I'm keeping this for making coffee for large gatherings and heating up large amounts of water for tea. Some of the reviewers indicated you can heat apple cider in it. Great idea and I'll be checking into that further. BTW, the hot chocolate bar was a HIT!
